Welcome to UCPLA

Founded in 1945, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties has become the largest nonprofit direct care provider of services in Southern California for persons with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities.  Serving over 1100 children and adults daily, our mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of children and adults with developmental disabilities and those with similar service needs.

UCPLA offers over 40 programs and services in five counties, ranging from residential and day programs to advocacy and family support services. These include adult day activity and learning centers; affordable, accessible apartments, accompanied by supported living counselors; group homes with full activities and nursing staff; children’s programs; advocacy; and RESPITALITY, giving parents a much needed break. By adding UCP WORK, Inc. to our family in 2001, UCPLA’s services expanded into Santa Barbara County. Then with the addition of UCP Wheels for Humanity in 2007, UCPLA’s impact was elevated to a global level.

Through the generosity of our community supporters, the commitment of a dedicated staff, and the courage and vision of our Boards of Directors and Board of Governors, UCPLA meets the needs of individuals and their families throughout their lifetime, enabling them to maximize their own potential and live full and dignified lives. UCPLA continues to grow and evolve as an organization, devoted to enabling persons with all developmental disabilities to live a life without limits.
