It was a perfect day for the 12th Annual Devon Stern/UCP Golf Tournament, which took place on Sunday, July 25th at the Camarillo Springs Golf Course. There were 144 golfers who played in the sold out tournament. All the money raised will go to UCP through the Devon Stern Children's Endowment Fund.

In honor of the tournament's founder, Shel Sandman, a memorial plaque was presented to Mr. Sandman's family. The plaque is on a bench at the 12th Hole where Shel's spirit will always be remembered.

UCP would like to thank all of the golfers and donors of the tournament.
Without your participation and support, this event wouldn't have been a success! We look forward to seeing you all next year!

Healthcare in the 21st Century - UCP Presents
On Monday, July 19th, UCP presented at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine which took place on the UCLA campus. UCP participated in a seminar on Healthcare in the 21st Century and presented on the topics of cerebral palsy and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This is an international conference attended by high school students who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in some aspect of the healthcare profession.

Michael Griggs, a UCP client, was the guest speaker at the cerebral palsy discussion, where he shared his experiences and challenges of having cerebral palsy. In addition, Olivia Karaolis, Program Manager of the UCPlay Project, spoke on the topic of ASD.

This was the second year that UCP was invited to speak at the conference and we have already been asked to participate in next year's conference.
notre dame students
notre dame high school students
Students from Notre Dame High School volunteered their time at the UCP Wheels for Humanity warehouse in North Hollywood on Thursday, July 15th, which marked the fifth installment of this on-going volunteer program. This relationship has been beneficial to both parties because students learn the importance of community service and respect for the disabled community, and UCP Wheels for Humanity has 20-24 young adults helping clean wheelchair parts. UCP would like to thank the students from Notre Dame High School for their time and efforts in making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
