Group Homes

UCP is one of the largest and most efficient health-related charities in the United States, serving hundreds of people with developmental disabilities everyday.  One of the cornerstones of UCP's multi-faceted programs is community based homes that provide 24-hour supervised residential care.  Group housing consists of seven 15-bed homes in Thousand Oaks, Sylmar, Lomita and Buena Park, and 15 six-bed homes in Sylmar, Granada Hills, Chatsworth, and Northridge.

Our homes provide a loving, caring environment for adults with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities to live full and dignified lives.  In addition to daily physical care, residents receive medical care based on identified health needs. Other services include training to develop maximum independence and self-help skills, development of socially acceptable behaviors, physical exercise, and social and leisure time activities

UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY PREPARES TO BREAK GROUND ON THEIR 11TH APARTMENT BUILDING IN GLENDALE, CA

In June 2008 United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties (UCP) plans to break ground on a new 24-unit, rent subsidized, fully accessible, affordable apartment building in Glendale, CA. Developed specifically for individuals with disabilities, this $10 million complex combines the expertise of architect, Efrain Olivares from ArquiTaller Inc., contractor Alpha Inc, and the developer, UCP, for whom this will be the 11th apartment building opened; the 6th in just the last six years.

Funding for this new rent subsidized complex is made possible through the generous financial support of UCP, the City of Glendale, the California Department of Housing and Community Development, the Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Housing Program, and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and is scheduled for completion in February 2009.

With a history in developing affordable housing, UCP is building on the success of recent projects, such as Casa de la Providencia, an 18-unit apartment complex completed in March of 2006 in Burbank, CA.  Congressman Adam Schiff commented enthusiasticallyat the opening ceremony "UCP did a phenomenal job along with the City of Burbank in building another crown jewel."
