What We Do

Our long list of programs and services include Housing, Supported & Independent Living, Information & Referral, Adult Education, Day Programs and RESPITALITY Program, just to name a few. From political advocacy to aquatic therapy, UCP delivers a wealth of resources to help individuals manage life with a disability. After six decades in the people-helping business, we've learned a thing or two about meeting the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families .

Housing

UCP is one of the largest developers of affordable housing for adults with disabilities in the state of California.  Our 35 sites we built and maintain are set in residential neighborhoods, and our rent-subsidized apartments are specifically designed for accessibility.

Adult Day Programs

UCP runs Adult Day Programs (ADP) in Chatsworth, Thousand Oaks, Van Nuys and Culver City.  These programs are designed to teach skills that individuals with disabilities may have not acquired at an earlier age andthat help them become more competitive in the job market.  These skills are achieved through horticulture therapy, computer training, adaptive P.E., mobility training and safety, crafts and behavioral programming.  Our Adult Day Programs help individuals gain independence through education because they provides challenges, demands and inner discipline.

Community Living Services

Our Supported and Independent Living Services provide individualized training and support 24 hours a day if needed, enabling persons with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential.

Supported Employment

For clients living in Santa Barbara, UCP offers several employment-related services, including job training, counseling and on-site job centers, where clients can enjoy the satisfaction of meaningful work.  Operated through UCP WORK, Inc, employment services are just another component of UCP's wide array of programs allowing our clients to live independently and with dignity.

Parent Support and Advocacy

UCP Parent Support and Advocacy Group for parents of children with cerebral palsy provide information and support for one another and to advocate for the needs of their children.  UCP staff facilitate the meetings and invite speakers to address a variety of topics requested by participants.

RESPITALITY Program

UCP Respitality is designed for over-worked parents who need a break and the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate at one of our partner hotels in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.  These quality hotels donate rooms to UCP, where parents can rest for a few days-usually over a weekend.  While they're relaxing, our experienced care providers can stay with their child their own home, should they request this service.

Information and Referral Services

Last, but certainly not least, is UCP's Information and Referral Services.  Whether you are a concerned citizen, a family member, or an individual with cerebral palsy or another developmental disability, UCP is here for you.  No matter what you are looking for-general information, specific services, medical referrals or just a knowledgeable friend to talk to, simply call us at (818) 782-2211.  After all, helping is what we do best.
